ABJAD

Abjad is the numerological system of writing for alphabets in which each letter will be represented by a specific number. Therefore, instead of writing a word, the sum of all letters of that word will be written in the Abjad system. Understanding the Abjad system needs practice and/or knowledge of mathematics.

The Abjad system exists/existed in almost all different languages, from Phoenician to Aramid and Pahlavi, from Hebrew to Arabi and Farsi.  

There are many beautiful stories and myths about different examples of using Abjad in history، as it mainly was used for astrology and coding. It is said that centuries ago, scripts were written in Abjad, and as it was common, there was no trouble in reading them. However, now, it’s hard to understand abjad and communicate through it. 

Like our other designs, in Tima Studio, we wanted to remind/educate our dear audience about a cultural concept that exists but is not part of everyday life. Abjad, this mysterious and beautiful system of writing deserves our attention.
