BORQE
“Borqe”, with around 400 years of history, is a facial mask that women in the cities of the Southern part of Iran wear for hijab, and also as a decorative accessory that protects their faces from sunlight. It codifies a woman’s identity through different motifs, colours, and forms.
Baluchi Borqe is usually in a red and rectangular shape. The Borqe used in our design, decorated with golden color coins, is called “sekkenama” and is usually worn in important events like wedding ceremonies.
These days, Borqe is used occasionally and rarely comparing to the old times. It is predicted that no one will wear it in near future. Our main goal to bring it to our design is to introduce Baluchi Borqe as a representation of the Iranian culture to our audience.
